The Waterfall Itself

Lake Creek Falls begins with a 25-foot sliding drop, followed by a 20-foot slide, and then plunges over the main 121-foot horsetail into a beautiful pool.

The area around the falls has been impacted by a large rockslide in the past, which likely reduced the waterfall’s height by about 20 feet. Over time, it will be interesting to observe how the waterfall changes as the area recovers.

The avalanche debris provides a fun final climb and a fantastic viewing platform adorned with flowers.

How To Get There

To reach Lake Creek Falls, drive to the end of Baker Lake Road and begin hiking up the Baker River Trail. After about a mile and a half, you will cross Lake Creek, identifiable by the old fungus-covered footbridge on the right side of the trail.

The falls are roughly a third of a mile upstream and can be reached fairly easily by following the creek up (at low volume, this can be done by following dry portions of the creek bed).

Finally, a short but steep scramble up a pile of avalanche debris is required to get a view of the entire falls.
